Last weekend, 23- 25 October 2026, we joined the conference “At the Tipping Points: Left Strategies for the Future”, organised by Interventionistische Linke in Berlin. It was an important moment to discuss, together with different collectives, trade unions, activists, and comrades, the pressing questions of the time: how do we understand the current historical crises, and what should the strategic and organisational responses of a radical left be?

On the 25th, as Transnational Social Strike Platform, we presented our political document: „Breaking the Cogs of War. Ten Theses on Europe at War“, a joint effort of different collectives that came together to discuss how to organise our transnational struggles within this war scenario. We also discussed the protests that are sweeping through Europe and showing that the war regime is not in a position to produce sufficient legitimacy. Students, workers and migrants are now part of a transnational movement showing the general unwillingness to sacrifice, and the refusal of the material conditions imposed by a Europe at war. The promise of military security can hardly compensate for the problems that workers, migrants, women and especially young people have every day.

In the workshop, we discussed the potential of these protests, and started a collective debate that will have to be continued. The radical dimension of this wave of riots, insurgencies, and strikes forces us to ask ourselves: how can we gain, in this moment, continuity and organisational power? How do we engage with the spontaneity of these protests? How can we use the power of this transnational event to develop transnational capacities of organisation? What does the spreading of the strike, as a word and as a practice, tell us?

We concluded our Tenth thesis on Europe at war by saying that: “What is at stake is the possibility to turn the cracks and signs of refusal into a transnational policy of peace: a European strike against the war for the sake of a project of liberation that turns the very causes of war into a field of common struggle and organising”. We wrote this before the protests took on this momentum. And now we are faced with events that open the possibility for a transnational politics of peace. We need now to ask ourselves, more than ever, how to create the possibility for a European strike against the war, to stop the devastation of our present and our future!
